Spyware and Adware Risks and Removal

This is a sponsored review June, 27th 2008

Spyware and Adware pose one of the most prolific risks to your home pc or business pc. Unfortunately more basic users are not even aware that they have installed these software products. Usually they are tempted with free offers of programs or they wish to watch a video and supposedly need to download a "codec". Once your machine has become infected the performance impact can be dramatic. Some signs that you may have become infected:

  • You receive popup's even when the Web browser is closed.
  • Your homepage changes by itself.
  • You have a tool bar or button from a company or website you have never heard of.
  • Your computer takes forever to start up.
  • You computer continually freezes.

Unfortunately removing this software is not as easy as installing it. Using a adware removal tool is usually your best bet for removing the aware or spyware.

Most spyware and Adware is classified as a Trojan horse and for good reason. They install themselves through out the PC rather then just within the usual "Program Files" directory. They do this specifically to prevent you from uninstalling the software. As soon as you begin to see the signs of infection ensure that you begin the removal process, before software has a chance to infect the machine further.

One other risk is that the spyware or adware software itself is vulnerable to attack. Attackers are then able to exploit a flaw within the adware or spyware to gain access to your machine.
